Halloween Would Not Be Right Without A Salted Caramel Apple On The Menu
Salted Caramel drizzled over an apple on a stick is my idea of fun. Sprinkle it with sea salt and that makes me swoon. It is a perfect treat for a fall day. Salted Caramel Apple Ingredients
- 2 Cups Granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 sticks of butter, at room temperature, cut in pieces
- 1 Cup heavy cream at room temperature
- 1 TBSP high quality sea salt fine granules
- 6 apples, washed
- 1 Cup crushed walnuts, mini chocolate candies, mini marshmallows, crushed almonds, or course sea salt crystals.
- 6 sturdy craft sticks.
Salted Caramel Apple Recipe Directions
To make the caramel sauce, pour the sugar in a heavy bottomed sauce pan in an even layer.
Let cool for 30 seconds, then quickly stir in the butter, cream and salt.
Transfer the sauce to a large bowl and refrigerate until cool. (2 hours at least)
Butter a baking sheet for the caramel apples to sit on. Insert a craft stick into the top of each apple.
Roll each apple through the cooled caramel. Place on the buttered baking dish. Refrigerate to let caramel set.
Put coarse sea salt in a dish to sprinkle onto the caramel apple. Feel free to use other toppings instead of coarse sea salt. You can use chocolate chips, marshmallows, nuts, or whatever suits your fancy. You can also drizzle them with melted chocolate if you wanted to.
